Kerry McCoy Personal Sports

Man, I love sports.

This weekend feels like a dream come true. My Razorbacks play HOG basketball on Saturday, and the Super Bowl follows on Sunday. For sports lovers, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Even though neither of my favorite teams made it to the Super Bowl, I am still excited to watch this year’s rivalry. You know, in sports, it’s all about stats and facts, so here are a few fun ones: ten years ago, in 2015, this year’s same two teams faced off in the Super Bowl. Then-Patriot quarterback, Tom Brady, threw for 328 yards, for 4 touchdown passes, and a 28–24 victory.

This year, I will still be rooting for the Patriots, again. Not because I know a lot about their quarterback (but I will before kickoff) but because of a hometown connection. Little Rock’s own Hunter Henry, a graduate from Pulaski Academy and the University of Arkansas, is the current go-to tight end for quarterback Drake Maye.

Half the reason I like sports is the backstory on all the players.

Keeping the tradition going!

At FAB, our senior salesperson, Kirk, keeps the $2 Super Bowl square tradition going strong. Dig through his files and you’ll find a folder dating back to 2010, filled with past sheets, bets, and winners.

This year, I drew out of the hat a 0 / 0 square for me. So, if no one scores in the first quarter, I win that quarter! That said, after watching plenty of pro football this season, my gut feeling is most teams score early, in the first quarter, and go stale in the 3rd quarter. I may need to check that stat.
