I thought it gloomy when my mother once told a younger me, “We’re not meant to be happy all the time, so be grateful and enjoy the happiness, when you are.” I now understand what she meant; life is just a series of peaks and valleys.
This Night was a Peak
At P. Allen Smith’s Moss Mountain Farm outside Little Rock, Arkansas, I joined about 50 guests for an enchanting evening that perfectly captured the holiday spirit in support of the Trinitas Ensemble. At dusk on the winter solstice, we gathered in Allen’s barn (that doesn’t look to have ever housed an animal) to listen to acapella voices sing carols under a Christmas tree. Afterwards, in our warm coats, we toured his beautifully landscaped farm, drank mulled wine, and ended in fellowship around a bonfire overlooking his pasture of sheep.
It was Magical, just like the Christmas season is meant to be. Thank you, Allen, for sharing your little slice of heaven on earth.
If you’re planning a visit to Little Rock in 2025, be sure to check out Moss Mountain’s tour dates. Treat yourself to some fresh air, a leisurely walk among his gardens, and an unforgettable experience. You won’t regret it.
