Am I in a time warp? Did I just turn 70 years old in Maine? Reflecting and to name a few undeniable and poignant facts, I do have a 45-year-old daughter, a 78-year-old brother, an 18-year-old granddaughter, and a 90+ year old father-n-law, so I guess it is all true.
To celebrate this birthday milestone, Grady and I flew to Maine with son Gray and his husband. We left them with family in Tenants Harbor before driving up the coastline on Highway 1 towards Canada. As of me writing this, I am sitting in The Jeweled Turret Inn in Belfast, Maine. Next week, once home, I will write about the trip and chart our path with restaurants and places we stayed.
Birth Day
Today is September 27, my actual birthday. Because everyone has one (a birthday every year, that is) and our family is big, we don’t put much stock in those reoccurring and numerous days. Just a simple text message with a balloon or cake emoji to our “Whole Fam Damily” WhatsApp group chat is about all we do.
But today was different. After 37 years of marriage, I finally got a back rub from my husband. That is a special gift because he just doesn’t do it, ever. When I once asked him why he didn’t want to rub my back he honestly said, “Because there ain’t no breasts on your back” (of course, he said it a little more crudely!).
Happy Birthday to all you September babies, born nine months after New Years Eve!
