Gran Ann and Daddy Mac are the grandparent-names given, by my children, to husband Grady’s parents.
Last week, against Daddy Mac’s objection, we planned and invited friends and neighbors to their house to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Husband Grady’s family has a history of longevity. His great grandfather lived to be 105 and his grandmother, Hazel, 96.
Out of curiosity, I Googled the life expectancy of white people and found that everyone in the Askew-McCoy family handedly beat the odds.
Thinking ahead, I am prophesizing that, in another 10 years (against his objection), we will be celebrating with another party on Daddy Mac’s auspicious 100-year birthday.
