The story of Matthew and Dreamland began in utero.
I was pregnant with middle-son Matthew Savage McCoy when I bought and restored the Taborian Hall with its Dreamland Ballroom on the 3rd floor. Little did I know at the time that he was going to grow and inherit my love of this old building.
Since 2017, Matt has worked passionately and without monetary compensation to restore Dreamland and keep alive the memory of the prosperous people that once inhabited it. Say what you will about millennials, but I love their commitment to service work. You can see the breadth of his knowledge and hear the passion in his voice as he talks to Nichole in our Arkansas Style interview.
Though working together as a mother/son duo has not been perfect (don’t put us on a pedestal just yet), it has been a nice bonding experience with broad teaching opportunities that have been good for the whole family.

This past weekend, the hard work of Matt, board members, volunteers, dancers, friends and family all came together for another spectacular night at Dancing Into Dreamland’s 13th annual fundraiser (DID24).
If you want to help keep the dream alive and support Matt’s hard work, see Dreamland dressed up at night, or (as I like to say) have the most fun you will ever have in your clothes, come to next year’s DID25.
