Not that you do what you do for it, but when you do something noteworthy, it’s nice to get some recognition.
Little Rock, Arkansas has a wonderful and long running non-profit called Quapaw Quarters Association (QQA). Founded in 1968, in response to urban renewal teardowns, the QQA has fought to preserve and save many of our town’s old buildings. Their mission statement is simple and near to mine and son, Matthew’s heart, “To preserve Greater Little Rock’s historic places.”
Jimmy Strawn Award
Being of the same ilk it was a nice surprise to find, in my inbox, an email from the QQA announcing I had been chosen by peers to receive their top Jimmy Strawn preservation award for restoring the Taborian Hall with its famous Dreamland Ballroom.
Passing on the Torch
As we posed, husband, son, and grandson, for our above photograph, I felt good about the future of downtown. The QQA has a proven track record of excellence and holding in my arms was the heartbeat of the next generation of preservationists.
Thank you to the peeps at QQA.
